Ashton Kutcher hasn't spoken publicly about estranged wife Demi Moore since her health crisis began in January – but he has seen her, a source tells PEOPLE.

The Two and a Half Men star has visited since her hospital stay, but "they are not getting back together," according to the source.

He went because "he knew it was important to her daughters," says the source. Moore has three girls with ex-husband Bruce Willis. Daughter Rumer, 23, remains especially close with Kutcher despite his split from Moore.

Still, Kutcher has continued to move forward with his life. On Thursday night, he stepped out to help fete Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre – just as multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Moore has left treatment.

A clean-shaven Kutcher, 34, kept a low profile by skipping the press area and heading straight for his front-row table inside the Beverly Hills Hotel ballroom for the Television Academy's 21st Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony, sponsored by Grey Goose.

After nearly two months of speculations, Demi Moore finally confirmed what everyone has been thinking - that she and Ashton Kutcher are no longer together.

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," a rep for the actress said in a statement.


The split came after it was reported that Kutcher cheated on Moore by having a one-night stand with a 22-year-old blonde, Sara Leal, at 6am on Sept 24 - which happened to be Kutcher and Moore's sixth wedding anniversary.

"As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life," said Moore in the statement.

Minutes after she announced the split, Kutcher tweeted: "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK."

Moore, 49, tied the knot with Kutcher, who is 16 years her junior, in 2005. Prior to her union with Kutcher, she had two marriages - one with singer Freddy Moore (1980 - 1984) and another with actor Bruce Willis (1987 - 2000). Together with Willis, 56, she raised three daughters: Rumer, 23, Scout, 20, and Tallulah, 17. Meanwhile, it's the first marriage for Kutcher, 33.

"This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation," added Moore.

The snap, which emerged for the first time yesterday, was taken outside a Los Angeles hotel back in JUNE.

Leal claims she bedded Kutcher after a party in San Diego on Saturday — his sixth wedding anniversary. At the time Ghost star Demi — 15 years his senior — was 2,500 miles away in New York. A source said: "Sara is talking to multiple media outlets for a deal. She wants $250,000."

It is the second time Kutcher has been accused of cheating on Demi, 48. A year ago Brittney Jones, 21, said she had sex with him at his marital home in Beverly Hills.

Today Ashton broke his silence with a cryptic tweet.

He wrote: "When you ASSUME to know that which you know nothing of you make an ASS out of U and ME."

So far Demi has refused to comment.

On September 23 - the day before Kutcher and Moore's anniversary - Moore posted a quote from Greek philosopher Epictetus reading: "When we are offended at any man's fault, turn to yourself and study your own failings. Then you will forget your anger."

A few days later, she posted a picture of herself accompanied by the words: "I see through you."

Representatives for the two actors have yet to respond to the speculation.

Last year, Kutcher was rumoured to be unfaithful after being spotted "kissing and groping" another woman in Los Angeles.

The ninth-season premiere drew a 10.3 rating/24 share in the prized 18-49 demographic, and was easily the most-viewed episode in the show's history. It was also the highest-rated show on television since the Feb. 27 Academy Awards, which had an 11.7 rating and 37.6 million total viewers. The show boosted the 9:30 p.m. premiere of "2 Broke Girls," which had a 7/16 and 19.1 million total viewers, according to preliminary numbers.

Ashton Kutcher will play "an Internet billionaire with a broken heart" when he arrives as the new star of "Two and a Half Men" next month.

CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler shared this tidbit about the much-anticipated cast change for TV's biggest sitcom during a session with television reporters on Wednesday. Kutcher, of course, will fill the void left by Charlie Sheen, who made a stormy exit from "Men" last season.

Kutcher's character will be named Walden Schmidt, confided the CBS boss, who added that Schmidt has no family connection to the characters played by continuing stars Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones. They portrayed the brother and nephew of Sheen's departed character.

Tassler would not confirm or deny reports that the new season of "Men" begins with the death of Sheen's character, Charlie Harper, and a funeral.

"The mystery is part of the marketing," she said.

"Men" begins its ninth season on Sept. 19 with the first of a two-part kickoff that establishes Kutcher's character.

Kutcher's first week on the job begins a new chapter for "Men" after a tumultuous conclusion to Sheen's eight-season run as a fast-living, womanizing cad. Sheen's portrayal drew inspiration from his own life of sex sprees, serial marriages and substance abuse, which spiraled into clashes with the show's studio as well as its creator, Chuck Lorre, and CBS. He was fired in March and the season was shuttered early.

Predictably, Tassler voiced excitement about the show's new star. Kutcher, she said, "is an extraordinarily professional, talented, funny, gifted actor who comes with a tremendous amount of commitment and enthusiasm."

"The show will be as irreverent as it has ever been," she promised. "Our Program Practices people are already on high alert."

Even so, Kutcher and his "Men" co-stars were conspicuously absent from Wednesday's sessions of the Television Critics Association, which was visited by cast members from several of CBS' new autumn shows as well as from "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," the veteran crime drama that is welcoming Ted Danson to the fold for its upcoming 12th season.

Asked why the "Men" gang wasn't on hand, Tassler replied that the show is in production. It resumed shooting Monday, and a break for a meeting across town with reporters would have been too disruptive, she explained.

"There is a tremendous amount of energy and focus and attention," Tassler said. "I would be lying if I didn't say when everybody walked on that set on Monday, you could cut the air with a knife."

Tassler was asked what she had learned from her experience with Sheen.

"Oh, where do I begin?" she replied with mock weariness, but hastily insisted she preferred to look forward, not behind.

Then, when asked if, in the future, CBS might introduce new policies for casting actors who are known for erratic behavior, she cracked, "That would probably be every actor in the business."

CBS and Warner Bros. Television announced today that Ashton Kutcher will join the cast of the hit comedy, Two And A Half Men.

The multi-talented Kutcher, whose success spans film, television and social media, will join Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, Holland Taylor, Marin Hinkle and Conchata Ferrell on the top-rated series. Production on the ninth season of the Emmy Award-nominated Two And A Half Men will begin this summer for broadcast on the CBS Television Network in the fall.

Ashton Kutcher has taken aim at a U.S. tabloid over reports he's cheating on his wife Demi Moore.

In a new article, Star magazine suggests the actor's five-year marriage is "in danger of falling apart" following the "bombshell news" that the actor was "caught cheating with a sexy, young 20-something".

An eyewitness tells the publication he saw Kutcher "kissing and groping a hot young blonde" at Italian restaurant Madeo in Los Angeles.

The source says, "He was totally making out with her. I was shocked to see him sucking face with a girl who obviously wasn't Demi."

Kutcher himself has taken to Twitter.com to address the scandal, writing, "Star magazine - you don't get to stand behind 'freedom of the press' when you are writing fiction."
