The Two and a Half Men star has visited since her hospital stay, but "they are not getting back together," according to the source.
He went because "he knew it was important to her daughters," says the source. Moore has three girls with ex-husband Bruce Willis. Daughter Rumer, 23, remains especially close with Kutcher despite his split from Moore.
Still, Kutcher has continued to move forward with his life. On Thursday night, he stepped out to help fete Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre – just as multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Moore has left treatment.
A clean-shaven Kutcher, 34, kept a low profile by skipping the press area and heading straight for his front-row table inside the Beverly Hills Hotel ballroom for the Television Academy's 21st Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony, sponsored by Grey Goose.
"He was worried about her and wanted her to get better," says the source. "Many of her friends did the same thing, but she just wouldn't listen."
Willis, 56, is the father of their three daughters, two of whom – Rumer, 23, and Tallulah, 18 – are now staying with him while Moore, 49, seeks treatment. (Scout, 20, is away at college). Moore had been especially close to Rumer since the marriage collapse.
"It's hard for Ru right now to see her mom in this situation," another source says.
Kutcher, meanwhile, stopped by Moore's Los Angeles house Wednesday, according to X17 Online. After a trip to Brazil, he is back in L.A. working on Two and a Half Men.
"She smoked something, it's not marijuana but it is similar to incense. She seems to be having convulsions of some sort," a female friend of Moore told emergency services when calling for an ambulance on Monday.
"She has been having some issues. I don't know what she has been taking," another woman at Moore's house that night told the 911 dispatcher. Moore was also described as "burning up", unable to speak and semi-conscious before help arrived at her Beverly Hills mansion.
The tape shed the first official light on the emergency that sent recently-separated Moore to the hospital, and later to seek treatment for what her spokeswoman has described only as "exhaustion".
Los Angeles officials said portions of the tape recording had been edited for privacy and to remove references to specific substances.
Celebrity website TMZ.com has reported that one of the friends at Moore's home on Monday told paramedics the actress had been inhaling nitrous oxide -- a substance also known as whip-its or poppers that gives users a high by briefly depriving the body of oxygen. The substance was not mentioned on the version of the tape recording released to the media.
The "Ghost" and "G.I. Jane" actress, 49, filed for divorce from husband Ashton Kutcher, 33, in November after the "Two and a Half Men Star" had a widely publicized fling with another woman.
Her gaunt appearance in paparazzi photos over the last few months has raised alarm bells in the celebrity media.
Her spokeswoman said on Tuesday Moore had decided to seek professional treatment for "exhaustion and (to) improve her overall health" because of stress. Moore's representatives have declined to give any details or comment further on her problems.
Moore and Kutcher were married for six years and their 16-year age gap made them the subject of constant media fascination.
Kutcher returned to Los Angeles from Brazil on Thursday, refusing to comment to the media about Moore.
"Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health," the star's rep tells E! News. "She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."
That surely won't be the end of the speculation as to what is wrong with Moore's "overall health," but for now, we simply just wish her well.
The Margin Call (nominated for a Best Original Screenplay Oscar today, FYI) star pulled the plug on her six-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher in November.
Moore and daughter Rumer Willis attended the Cinema for Peace benefit for Sean Penn's J/P Haitian Relief Organization at the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills on Jan. 14. Her usual can of Red Bull in hand, Moore was spotted chatting with pal Melanie Griffith.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a 911 call was made last night at 10:49 p.m. from an address that E! News has confirmed is Moore's, and one person was transported to the hospital at 11:21 p.m.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," a rep for the actress said in a statement.
The split came after it was reported that Kutcher cheated on Moore by having a one-night stand with a 22-year-old blonde, Sara Leal, at 6am on Sept 24 - which happened to be Kutcher and Moore's sixth wedding anniversary.
"As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life," said Moore in the statement.
Minutes after she announced the split, Kutcher tweeted: "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK."
Moore, 49, tied the knot with Kutcher, who is 16 years her junior, in 2005. Prior to her union with Kutcher, she had two marriages - one with singer Freddy Moore (1980 - 1984) and another with actor Bruce Willis (1987 - 2000). Together with Willis, 56, she raised three daughters: Rumer, 23, Scout, 20, and Tallulah, 17. Meanwhile, it's the first marriage for Kutcher, 33.
"This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation," added Moore.
Demi Moore was leaving Jessica Nail Clinic in West Hollywood's Sunset Plaza, when she was "greeted" by the paparazzi.
One of them told X17 Online that Moore got more than miffed.
She screamed obscenities at the paprazzi and pushed through them before making a quick getaway.
Gossip Cop quotes a source saying that one aggressive paparazzo physically blocked her path,shoved his camera in her face and was verbally abusive toward Moore.
When reached for comment, Moore's rep directed E! News to the Gossip Cop story.

The Sun revealed Sara claimed Ashton told her he was already separated from wife Demi, before they embarked on a two-hour sex session in a San Diego hotel.
The 22-year-old said Ashton congratulated himself on his conquest before she left.
Moore and Kutcher were married in a Los Angeles Kabbalah centre in 2005 after dating for two years.
Ghost star Moore was previously married to Bruce Willis for 13 years. They had three daughters together.
Kutcher recently replaced troubled Charlie Sheen in hit US sitcom Two And A Half Men.
It was claimed Demi took legal advice last Friday about ending her marriage and splitting the pair's £200million fortune.
The hunky actor, 33, is said to have romped with Sara Leal, 23, behind wife Demi Moore's back.
Onlookers said the girl in the picture bears a "remarkable resemblance" to Leal, who is allegedly demanding £160,000 to buy her silence.
The snap, which emerged for the first time yesterday, was taken outside a Los Angeles hotel back in JUNE.
It is the second time Kutcher has been accused of cheating on Demi, 48. A year ago Brittney Jones, 21, said she had sex with him at his marital home in Beverly Hills.
Today Ashton broke his silence with a cryptic tweet.
He wrote: "When you ASSUME to know that which you know nothing of you make an ASS out of U and ME."
So far Demi has refused to comment.

On September 23 - the day before Kutcher and Moore's anniversary - Moore posted a quote from Greek philosopher Epictetus reading: "When we are offended at any man's fault, turn to yourself and study your own failings. Then you will forget your anger."
A few days later, she posted a picture of herself accompanied by the words: "I see through you."
Representatives for the two actors have yet to respond to the speculation.
Last year, Kutcher was rumoured to be unfaithful after being spotted "kissing and groping" another woman in Los Angeles.
